DESCRIPTION:As Spain's crucial role in the American Revolution is not commonly known or acknowledged\, Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre will celebrate Spain's contributions and the legacy of Hispanics to U.S. Independence with a cross disciplinary program featuring a history lecture/PowerPoint presentation by Paul Soltis\, a New Jersey Sate Parks Historian\, and live demonstrations of Spain's 18th Century dance and music traditions by Alborada's dancers and musicians as well as reenactment specialist\, Maria Hill. The event brings to light how Spain and the Caribbean colonies shaped the battle for American Independence\, including one of the most important players\, General Bernardo de G lvez.
